  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups crisco
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 extra large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 12 cups sliced apples (peeled, cored and thinly, i mix 3 granny smith, 3 gala and the rest are rome apples rome apples are sweet and soft, i use them mostly in my pies and mix granny smith for a little tart also)
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice (mix carefully through apples so they don't turn brown)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • butter (enough, to dot all over top of apples)
