Description

A variation of the classic American favorite. Get your apples ready, because this cake requires six of them. With the unique flavor of a splash of port wine, this cake is a must make during autumn.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples (large)
  • 1 whole eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 125 grams margarine
  • 10 grams port wine
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 170 grams flour
  • salt
  • powdered sugar (to taste)

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2Peel and core the apples. Cut them into quarters, and slice each section, without separating completely. Set aside.
  3. 3Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius..
  4. 4Beat the egg, egg yolks, and sugar for about 2 minutes.
  5. 5Add the margarine and Port wine, and mix on a higher speed for a few seconds.
  6. 6Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix for a few seconds. The dough gets quite thick.
  7. 7Pour into a round cake pan greased with butter and sprinkled with flour.
  8. 8Uniformly distribute the apples on top of the dough. Slightly press down the apples, without sinking them into the dough.
  9. 9Bake for about 30 minutes. Check the cooking with a toothpick, remove, unmold, and let cool.
  10. 10Once cooled, sprinkle abundantly with powdered sugar.
