Description

Apple crumble signals the arrival of autumn with all of its changing leaves and cooler weather. The addition of plum jam and almonds to this fall favorite make it a unique melt-in-your-mouth dessert that will have you reaching for a second serving. Serve with your favorite flavor of ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 7 apples (medium-sized)
  • 4 tablespoons plum jam
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 200 grams wheat flour
  • 75 grams almonds (unpeeled, optional, almond peel intensifies flavor and color)
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 50 grams rolled oats
  • 250 grams butter

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2In a baking pan, pour lemon juice and plum juice.
  3. 3Peel and core the apples, cut into small cubes, and add to pan. Mix everything very well, using your hands to mix if necessary.
  4. 4In the food processor, chop the almonds slightly. Add flour, rolled oats, sugar, and finally cold margarine cut into small pieces. Mix to a granulated mixture, thicker than beach sand.
  5. 5Cover the apples with the mixture, and bake for 25 or 30 minutes or until golden.
  6. 6Serve warm or cold, plain or with a scoop of ice-cream.
