Apple crumble is a quick and easy crowd pleaser and a fall favorite. Made with honey and port wine, this apple crumble has a deep and rich flavor that is rounded out with the addition of chocolate chips. Sweet, salty, and just a little bit nutty, this apple crumble is a must bake.

Ingredients

  • 4 pippin apples
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 600 milliliters port wine
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup sugar (yellow)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 milk (melted margarine)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Peel and core the apples, and cut into thin slices.
  3. Evenly distribute the apples in a baking tray, and sprinkle with lemon juice, Port wine, honey, and cinnamon.
  4. In a bowl, mix all the remaining ingredients with a wooden spoon, until obtaining a homogeneous mixture.
  5. Spread this topping on top of the apples, and bake until the apples are fully cooked.
  6. Serve cold, hot, or warm, with a scoop of ice cream.

Great dessert idea and recipe. I can't say I have a single complaint about this dish. I added some walnuts on top of mine. Very delicious. You get some sweet, some nutty, and a little salty flavor in it. Great job and thanks for sharing.
