Classic comfort food but better, with cream cheese and buttery Ritz cracker crumbs. Everyone will be asking for the recipe! The recipe is a Yummly original created by Sara Mellas.

  • 12 oz. sharp cheddar cheese (1 1/2 cups shredded)
  • 4 oz. Gruyere cheese (or Swiss, 1/2 cup shredded)
  • 4 oz. Gouda cheese (1/2 cup shredded)
  • 4 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 6 Tbsp. unsalted butter (for sauce)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt (for sauce)
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper (or white pepper)
  • 4 oz. round buttery crackers (like Ritz, 4 oz. is about 36 crackers)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for topping)

    Took a long time to make and it is a bit bland. But we didn’t hate it. Very creamy. May add bacon next time as suggested on another review.

    i've made it two times-- the second time I put Pepper Jack cheese in --in place of the swiss cheese. It was amazing and there wasn't any left. My guests kept going back for more.

    Don't hesitate to add extra salt and pepper at the wnd and maybe more of the other seasonings.

    I substituted with almond milk because it's all I had in my fridge. I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess of it, not too thick. My husband and I enjoyed it. Will def make again!

    It was amazing. I did substitute different cheeses due to not having the specific ones, however, it still tasted amazing! I'm very satisfied with it.
