Description

Tart and tangy, this dessert will delight those who don’t care much for sweets. 5 apples packed into the crust, along with eggs, whipping cream, milk, and sugar make for a hearty dish that is sure to satisfy your appetite. Perfect for crisp spring days and cool fall nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 5 apples (sour, peeled and cut into fourths)
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 milliliters whipping cream
  • 200 milliliters milk
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.
  2. Flatten the piecrust slightly so that it does not rise more than necessary and place into the oven until it begins to brown, approximately 10 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside.
  3. Slice each apple section into thin slices, but without cutting all the way through.. Place the apple pieces into the pie crust on their sides so that the cuts are seen.
  4. Beat the eggs together with the sugar, add the milk, cream, and vanilla, and pour into the piecrust. Bake for 30 minutes, until firm.
  5. Mix the marmalade with a little water, heat slightly, and brush over the top of the tart.
