Description

When someone takes the time to make a cake for you, it is a sign they care. It may even mean they love you. This recipe for A Mother’s Love Cake is a chocolate decadence. It takes 65 minutes to prepare this flavorful sweet treat. Ingredients include milk, baking powder, condensed milk, corn starch, cream, egg yolks, margarine, brown sugar, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, flour, and egg whites.

Ingredients

US|METRIC
  • 150 milliliters milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 package cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 120 milliliters margarine (room temperature)
  • 180 grams brown sugar
  • 50 grams cocoa powder
  • 50 grams dark chocolate (melted)
  • 180 grams flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 egg whites

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Bring to a boil the milk, baking powder, condensed milk, cornstarch, and cream and cook, stirring frequently, until thickened.
  3. Remove the mixture and set it aside to cool completely.
  4. Beat the egg yolks with the margarine and brown sugar until it forms a thick cream.
  5. Stop the mixer and add the cocoa powder, melted dark chocolate, flour, baking powder, and milk.
  6. Beat again until ingredients are well mixed.
  7. Stop the mixer and, with a spatula, gently stir in the whisked egg whites.
  8. In a greased cake tin, spread out about half of the cake mix.
  9. Carefully pour the cake filling over it, reserving some to use as a topping. Be careful to cover only the center and avoid the edges.
  10. Pour out the other half of the dough over the filling. Bake at 180 degrees celsius for approximately 35 minutes.
  11. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.
  12. While the cake is cooling, add a touch of cocoa powder (to taste) to the leftover filling mix and lightly stir it in.
  13. Frost the cake and decorate it as desired.

This 4 star cake recipe definitely made my family fall in love and have already planned another baking in the future. A very toothsome cake that is not overly sweet and very gratifying to eat. Simple to bake up and doesn't include a lot of prep time.
