Food pranks range from the cruel and unusual (filling doughnuts with mayonnaise instead of cream, or the old toothpaste-in-the-Oreo-cookie trick) to mild annoyances (switching Cereals into different boxes or adding a few drops of green food dye to your milk). This food prank is an oldie, but a goodie, and is sure to get a few people to do a double-take.

Materials Needed

  • Pound cake
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Yellow and red food dye

Directions

  1. Cut your pound cake into slices and toast them up until they're nice and golden on the outside. Let it cool.
  2. Add a few drops of yellow and red food dye to your frosting and mix it until it reaches the desired shade of cheddar orange. Spread it into the toasted pound cake.
  3. Cut your "grilled cheese sandwich" into triangles and set it up on a plate. Add a few toasted crumbs around the plate if you've got 'em to make it look more like a freshly sliced grilled cheese.
  4. Await your prey and giggle at their expression when they discover they've been fooled by the food prank master.
