Beef, cheese, and pasta- yes please. Worked well for us. I didn't follow the measurements, just estimated ratios to the amount of beef I had. The addition of sour cream is nice, but straight cottage cheese is perfectly acceptable too.

This is in our regular rotation. It is easy to make, and we usually have all of the ingredients on hand. I usually make the recipe exactly as listed, but have also added a clove or two of minced garlic a half onion to the meat mixture. This also makes a great freezer recipe, so I double the recipe and make a second 9x9 pan (without adding cheddar cheese or baking) to toss in the freezer. Just thaw this out and bake (covered) at 350 for about 30 minutes. Take off the cover, add cheese and bake another 20 minutes.

I would err on the side of too much meat rather than not enough. I generally go for 1 1/2 lbs of meat in this recipe (especially when not adding onions). Using 1 1/4 lb of beef is just enough to cover the noodles, but I like a thicker layer for my meat eaters.
