  • 2 cups pinto beans (I presoak the beans)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 garlic clove (crushed)
  • 2 12 tbsps chili powder (more if you prefer spicy)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 12 tbsps maple syrup
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (adjust to taste, optional)
  • 12 cup finely chopped onion (for garnish)
  • 14 cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
