Ingredients

  • 2 heads garlic (separated into cloves, unpeeled)
  • 6 cups chicken stock
  • 6 cups vegetable stock
  • 3 whole clove
  • 1/2 tsp dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp thyme (dried leaf)
  • 3 sprigs parsley
  • pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cups v 8 vegetable juice
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 3/4 cup orzo pasta (uncooked, or 3/4 cup alphabet pasta or 3/4 cup other small shell pasta)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 8 bread (garlic, croutes, I use Garlic Bread Croutes Garlic Bread Croûtes)
  • 6 ozs sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 ozs monterey jack
  • fresh parsley (finely minced, or cilantro, for garnish)
  • 1 avocado (ripe, pitted, peeled and sliced, for garnish, optional)
