Ingredients

  • 1 onion (large, chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean)
  • 2 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tbsps chili powder
  • 1 tbsp natural cocoa (unsweetened)
  • 2 tsps paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black ground pepper (freshly)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 15 ozs tomato sauce (no-salt-added)
  • 15 ozs diced tomatoes (with their juices)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp molasses (unsulfured)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 8 ozs spaghetti (preferably whole-grain, cooked according to package directions)
  • 1 cup kidney beans (canned, preferably low-sodium, drained and rinsed)
  • 1/4 cup extra sharp cheddar cheese (grated, lightly packed)
  • 4 tsps purple onion (finely diced)
