How would you describe your culinary style?
My cooking is all about the combination of true comfort foods and farm-fresh ingredients. I love slow cooking: spending time in the kitchen with the food, learning and respecting each ingredient, getting to the essence of flavor to make it shine. (And incidentally, helping my whole house to smell good for hours on end.) I call my website “cooking on the weekends,” because my style involves setting aside a nice chunk of time and letting one’s culinary passion reign! I just love deep, rich, fresh flavors – and I love to cook!
What is the main source of inspiration for your recipes?
More than anything else, I’m inspired by talking with people about food. I love finding out what combinations of food they like, how they like it prepared, how they like it cut, and so on — all of the details are inspirational to me! I leave almost every food conversation with a new idea.
If you could have one food while stranded on a desert island, what would it be?
Chips and salsa. Let’s just call that combination one “food,” shall we? Really, the two are somehow cosmically intertwined! And it’s healthy, filling, and full of my absolute favorite: smoky, spicy, sweet, fresh and yummy flavors! (I’m hoping it’s roasted salsa!)
For someone new to your blog, which recipe do you recommend they try first?
Though, I’m quite passionate about all of them, I’m going to go with my Smoky Chipotle Parmesan French Fries! They embody the deep, rich flavors that I love so much.
What is your ultimate guilty food pleasure?
Nutella – straight out of the jar, with a spoon.
Yummly is any food, meal, or eating experience that is comforting, cozy, and oh-so-delicious! Yummly is also cooking for others, putting love into recipes, and the wonderful joy of sharing food.
