Yummly is all about finding fantastic food and drinks, and last week we took a trip to Napa Valley, CA to explore the very best of both! The whole gang here at Yummly HQ hopped on a bus and headed to wine country. We breakfasted at Bouchon Bakery, paired lunch with wines at Cakebread Cellars, taste-tested the awesome reds at Trespass Vineyard, sipped bubbly at Chandon, and enjoyed dinner at Redd – all in the name of work, of course! How else can we get you the best recipes in the world if we don’t feast on them for ourselves?
For a quick breakfast, our first stop was Bouchon Bakery where we were met by a fantastic selection of very tasty breakfast pastries and desserts. We were duty-bound, of course, to sample as many of them as our consciences could handle.
After touring the Cakebread facilities, we made our own fresh lunch consisting of fresh crab tostadas, goat cheese and leek stuffed mushrooms, fennel-crusted tuna, New York strip steak, and a to-die-for strawberry rhubarb galette – all paired with Cakebread’s fantastic selection of wines!
After our excellent lunch, we got back on the party bus and high-tailed it over to Trespass Vineyard where we got to sample a whole range of awesome red wines. It was a rainy day, but with this view (and all that wine), how could it get our spirits down?
What to do when you have an extra hour before your dinner reservation? Have an impromptu stop at Chandon for a sparkling wine tasting! We sipped some great bubbly, including their Sparking Red, Classic Brut, and Extra Dry riche.

After some lovely champagnes, we staggered back onto the Yummly party wagon and got ready to devour the dinner menu at Redd! The menu was packed with delicious options, including these phenomenal caramelized scallops.
It was a long day, and a lot of grueling work…but our quest to discover what makes food great and delivering that information to you was well worth it!
